Class of 1948

It’s time (finally) to announce the results of the ACBL Hall of Fame voting. 11 managers voted, meaning that 9 votes were needed to be elected. We have three new members of the Hall of Fame, all long-time outstanding stars in the league. The drumroll please.....



Jimmie Foxx

'30-'40 IOWA, '41 CORLEONE, '42 ADIRONDACK, '44-'45 SAUKVILLE -

One of the all-time ACBL greats, Foxx ranks 2nd in career HRs with 433 and RBIs 1488 as well as ranking in the top 5 in numerous other offensive categories. He was a member of two World Series champions, the ’37 Iowa Harvesters & the ’41 Corleone Family. Foxx led his league in HRs 5 times, launching a career high 55 in ’32, and hit .386, leading the league, for Iowa in ’38.



Lon Warneke

'31-'43, '45 SAUKVILLE

A 223 game winner, which ranks 5th all-time in the ACBL, Warneke also is 4th in earned run average with a 2.70 ERA. He spent his career with the Nashua/Saukville franchise, pitching in 6 consecutive World Series, earning 3 rings and winning 7 games. Warneke was also an outstanding 8-1 in League Championship play, pitching to a sub 2.50 ERA in post-season play. He was a 20 game winner in 6 seasons and threw a no-hitter in 4 consecutive seasons, 32-35.



Paul Derringer

'31-'45 NEW YORK

Derringer finished his career ranked 2nd in wins with 238 as the face of the New York Knights pitching staff. He pitched in more games, 535, than any other ACBL pitcher and totaled 75 wins from 1938-40, leading the league in games started, wins, innings pitched in each season and finishing with a 1.83 ERA in ’38. Derringer pitched in the post-season 11 different years, appearing in the World Series once, in 1938.



Other eligible players also received votes, a couple coming very close to election. Each player receiving a vote will appear on next year’s ballot. Thanks for voting and continue to enjoy this great league. The final totals....
