Again, we had very close voting totals, and when the tallies were counted, we’re proud to announce one new member of the ACBL Hall of Fame.  The drumroll please….

ACBL Hall of Fame – Class of 1952

TED LYONS
1930-42 Bergen Barflies, 1946 Hogpath Panthers

 The ace of the Bergen Barflies staff, he pitched in 7 World Series during his 13 seasons with the Barflies, earning two rings…..was magnificent in 7 different Colonial League Championship series, earning 7 wins in 13 appearances and the 1935 League Championship MVP as the Barflies won every series….totaled 184 wins during his career with a sparkling .679 winning percentage…..won 20 games twice, but had his best season in 1938, when he went 19-2, led the league in ERA at 2.04, fired 8 shutouts and won the Colonial League Cy Young award…threw no-hitters in 1938 & 1939….returned from 3 years of active duty in the military to finish his career with Hogpath, where he went 8-0 with a 1.38 ERA in 13 appearances in 1946.

 

The complete voting totals appear below.  Bob Johnson and Mel Harder just missed election, totaling 10 votes each.  They, along with every player that received a vote, will appear on next year’s ballot.
